The Depth of a Kiddie Pool? I Don't Think So...

When you hear the word "highschooler", I wonder what pops into your head?  Teenager, school,  homework, hormones, drama, stress, cliques, mean girls, jocks, shallow . . . . Well, when I think of high school kids, some things come into my head that might not seem normal.  Passionate, caring, compassionate, visionaries, bold, gifted, fragile, confused, searching, joyful, fun, deep, .. . .
What I love about high school kids, is that one minute they can seem rather (no offence) shallow, and the next minute they bust out with something deep and soul provoking.  Sometimes we treat them like the are still little kids and expect them to have the depth of a kiddie pool, but you cant put them in a box. They think deeper and feel keener then we give them credit for. I've learned that if I back off and let them talk, great things will come out. They have their own way of communicating for sure, but that is just what makes their wisdom so beautiful. They can reach out to their peers in a way that I just can't. And its beautiful to stand back and watch.
